The beginning of alcohol production was experienced more than 12,000 years ago. Thousands of years ago, people began to produce the first forms of alcohol by fermenting fruit juices and honey. Remains of fermented beverages have been found in Egypt, China and even India. Later, after thousands of years, Greece enjoyed mead, and in Babylon people worshiped the goddess of wine.

The beginning of the 16th century brought the medical use of alcohol, but people quickly realised that alcohol is also healing in the different way. After this, a problem with strong alcoholism has slowly began to spread around the world. The world-famous American Prohibition of 1920, which forbade the production and sale of alcoholic beverages, did not help either. People were innovative and they turned their cellars into home-made distilleries.

At that time, government quickly realised that the prohibition is meaningless and after 13 years it was officially repealed. The prohibition brought over 10,000 deaths, as the US government decided to add a poison to industrial alcohol in order to discourage people from drinking. However, some people did not want to listen and so their drinking ended tragically.
