The family craft brewery Baník from Handlová is a tribute to the more than century-old mining history of this Upper Nitra town. It was founded in 2019 by Ján Spevár with a vision to create beer that not only tastes great but also carries the spirit of the community that has shaped the region for generations. The names of the beers often reference local mining traditions and legends, such as Saint Catherine, the patron saint of miners.

The brewery produces both top- and bottom-fermented beers using high-quality Slovak malts, with the great advantage of pure mountain water. The brewmaster, Róbert Hertlík, has been refining his craft from the very beginning, continuously expanding the range with new beer styles, including those suited for the colder months. The selection includes beers that respect traditional brewing styles while bearing the distinct signature of the brewmaster and the region.
