This winery decided to make wine the way it should be – from grapes from its own vineyards, from varieties that belong to Slovakia, and in its own cellars. Their philosophy is to create wine that is fresh, fragrant, and delicious. When they can achieve this goal and believe in the seriousness of their plan, it will be easier for them to convince business partners of their place in a crowded market.

The decision to establish a new company was made surprisingly quickly – the interview lasted less than an hour. The founders were confident in their choice. Roman Janoušek, one of the best Slovak winemakers, became the key person in the project. The best wine produced by the winery will bear his name in the form of an exclusive edition “Roman Janoušek”. The second founder, a collector of world wines and former owner of the largest Slovak publishing house, decided to use his experience and invest in the production of Slovak wines. As he himself recalls: “I heard that you sold something big and now you want to make wine.” The “big one” was a publishing house that managed thirty magazines and newspapers, dominating the Slovak market without competition. In a similar spirit, they decided to build and run this winery.

After mutual agreement, the partners set out to find a suitable building. Despite the initial difficulties, they had no doubt that they would eventually settle in an ideal location. And indeed – quite by chance, they found themselves in the Pezinok Castle. At first glance, it was obvious that the extensive cellars needed a general renovation and investment in technology, while the castle itself was in an incredibly devastated state. At first, it seemed like too much to swallow, but when they found out that along with the castle they also had the opportunity to acquire extensive vineyards in Dubník and Svodín in southern Slovakia, they stopped hesitating.
