Pivovar Matuška, Czech Republic

Pivovar Matuška is one of the pioneers of the Czech craft beer scene. This family-owned brewery from the village of Broumy was founded in 2009 on Easter Monday, when Martin Matuška brewed his very first batch of dark lager. Since then, their beer has become a household name – especially in Prague’s top beer spots, but also in Brno, Bratislava, and even in Maribor, Slovenia. In 2016, the brewing technology was moved to a larger facility, which allowed the brewery to expand. The original brewing equipment found a new home in Karlín, Prague, where it now serves in the sister brewery Dva Kohouti – a modern brewpub co-owned by Adam Matuška.

Over more than a decade, this garage-born brewery has grown into a respected brand, brewing over 5,000 hectolitres annually and offering more than 30 different beer styles. Their iconic lineup includes the legendary Raptor – one of the first IPAs brewed in the Czech Republic – as well as the citrusy California, the hoppy Zlatá Raketa, and the aromatic Apollo Galaxy. The brewery specializes in honest lagers and modern top-fermented styles, placing a strong emphasis on ingredient quality, freshness, and full flavor. All of their beers are unfiltered and unpasteurized.
