The originator of this entire ale style's name and the heaviest brew from the La Trappe abbey offers an exceptionally intense and warming experience. The recipe combines four types of barley malt – from Munich to roasted – giving the beer a deep amber colour and a complex structure. This world-first is crafted for slow sipping, whether on its own or paired with bold dishes such as blue cheeses, dark chocolate, or slow-cooked spare ribs.
The bouquet is layered and rich, revealing hints of cloves and nuts perfectly balanced by sweet aromas of vanilla, raisins, and ripe banana. On the palate, a full malty body dominates with distinct notes of dates and caramel. The overall profile is velvety smooth, warming, and flavour-saturated, leaving a long-lasting malty trail in the finish with a subtle echo of noble alcohol.
Ingredients: water, BARLEY malt, glucose syrup, hops, yeast, sugar.
